After Finding Forever, Common Hopes For An Invincible Summer

Last year's Finding Forever was a diamond in the rough for the music industry but, more importantly, it was also a breakthrough for Chicago's own Common. Not only did it bring about critical acclaim but it led to the M.C.'s first award as a solo artist. Clearly, recognition is past due for Common and after finding himself with the now classic album Be, his follow up, Finding Forever, was equally a classic in and of itself. However, for every ounce of genius, insanity is not far behind; so it only frustrates me to report that Kanye West is not scheduled to helm any of the tracks on Common's upcoming Invincible Summer LP.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great when an artist ventures out to explore creativity but if it ain't broke, then don't fix it. Besides, Kanye was the one who helped Common "find his way home", so to speak, so I'm questioning this move on Common's behalf. Understandably, Kanye is quite busy with his Glow in the Dark tour so from that standpoint, I can understand but Common...remember what happened with Electric Circus? Making the same mistake twice is not a good look so chew on that for awhile before the summer gets here.
