The Dream Feat. Young Jeezy: I Luv Your Girl [Video]

A lot of people are sleeping on this guy Dream so do yourselves a favor and go pick up his CD Love/Hate. It's rare that I even buy a CD anymore but, trust me, it's worth it. Anyway, here's his latest video for "I Luv Your Girl" and it features Young Jeezy. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Lyfe Jennings: Lyfe Change

Inspiration is hard to come by for some people but Lyfe Jennings just seems to exude it. His remarkable story served as the perfect backdrop for his soulful debut, Lyfe 268-192, and one solo album later, The Phoenix, fans are evidently high on Lyfe. It’s no secret as to why either. Lyfe’s approach to music with a message is well received by many and, as a fan, it’s comforting to know that some artists are not afraid to put themselves out there. Interpersonal content that reflects back to the artist seems to have more of a realness to it so pardon my Jay-Z reference but, “the real is back”.

It’s funny, pressure can be a gift and a curse but Lyfe Jennings seems unfazed when it comes to matters of fame. Case and point, his debut album was critically acclaimed for it’s texture/content so you would think that the pressure to follow that up would be a little overwhelming. Seemingly so, The Phoenix was not quite up to par with Lyfe’s first opus but it was still “soul food” nonetheless. Now, hungry for more, Lyfe Jennings is back with his third album, Lyfe Change, and while it deviates slightly from the Lyfe Jennings we’re used to, it’s still the same unique blend of ghetto gospel we’ve come to know and love.

Let’s face it. Quality music is hard to come by these days but for artists like Lyfe, it just seems to come naturally. His lead single “Never Never Land” is a soulful perspective on the whole “30 is the new 20” craze and that kind of endearing message is hard to come by. Songs like “Cops Up”, “Wild, Wild, Wild”, and “You Think You Got It Bad” stand out, again, because of the message behind each one and I’ve come to realize that this is what I love about Lyfe the most. We all go through rough patches in our life and we all go through periods of uncertainty. However, when things come together we seem to forget where we came from and all Lyfe is saying is embrace the good with the bad.

Overall, Lyfe Change is a great CD but, me personally, I was spoiled off of Lyfe 268-192. No other album of Lyfe’s will ever measure up, in my opinion, but one thing I will say is that Lyfe Change is a step above The Phoenix. As much as I tried, I couldn’t get into that particular album so it’s good to see Lyfe rebound and deliver more of that “chicken and collard green” music a la Anthony Hamilton. Like his mama said, “There’s only two things in life that are constant and that’s change and change”. What do you know? She was right.

Busta Rhymes Is Blessed, New Album Due This Summer

Up and coming rappers take note, “It’s about having a divine body of work”.--For those who have watched The Black Carpet (BET) recently, then this quote should sound well familiar; but if not, Busta Rhymes seems to always keep it real. His rambunctious, raw, in your face style has endured over time and after educating us with 2006’s The Big Bang, Busta is poised to show us exactly why he’s Blessed.

It’s been a rough year or so for Busta Rhymes and, as most of you know, it all started with the shooting death of his best friend/bodyguard Israel Ramirez. From there, suspicion abounded about Busta not willing to cooperate with the police in a attempt the capture the suspects but, for his sake, feel free to reserve judgment. Regardless, Busta seems unfazed and with this new album, I’m Blessed, I’m sure he has quite a bit to address.

Featuring production from the likes of Pharrell, Cool & Dre, and the legendary DJ Scratch, I’m Blessed is sure to be another surefire hit for Busta. Already, his lead street singles “Don’t Touch Me (Throw Da Water On ’Em)” and “Where’s My F**kin’ Money” are circulating quite a bit of buzz but, also, peep the grown & sexy “Lights, Camera, Action”. I’m not sure if this track will make the final cut of the album or not but it’s reminiscent of his collaboration with Janet a few years back on "What’s It Gonna Be”.

You would think that for an artist as well established as Busta that complacency would sink in at this stage of his career but it’s good to see otherwise. So many artists lose that proverbial hunger after years of longevity but one thing’s for sure, Busta has remained consistent. As far as guest appearances on this new album, I’m Blessed is packed with a bevy of features that include: Common, Mary J. Blige, T.I., Jamie Foxx, Linkin Park, Lil’ Wayne, Justin Timberlake, Ludacris, and more. However, I’m more interested in hearing what Busta has to say. The Big Bang was a disappointment, in my opinion, so hopefully I’m Blessed will be a gift rather than a curse.

Brett Favre Chosen As Cover Athlete For Madden NFL '09

Even in retirement Brett Favre's legacy lives on, as it was announced that he would be featured on the cover of this year's Madden NFL '09. While it's certainly an honor, most have been apprehensive in regards to the "Madden Curse"; but with Brett Favre retired, what's the worst that could happen?

As far as new features are concerned, the game is still in development and won't see life until its annual August release. However, from what I have gathered, new additions are limited but subject to the following:
  • EA Sports Backtrack
  • Improved Online Leagues
  • Real Football Intelligence
  • Total Control Animation System
  • Revamped Graphics & Visuals
  • New Real-time Weather
  • New Weather Particle System
  • New Lighting Models
  • New Player Models
  • User-Controlled Celebrations
  • Offensive Line Slide Protection
  • Improved Stadiums
  • Revamped Franchise Mode
  • Field Goal Nets
  • New Game Modes
  • New Player Weapon Types
  • Smart Routes
  • Formation Subs
  • Madden IQ System
  • CPU vs CPU
As you can see, Madden is becoming the closest simulation we have (next to the real thing) so I'm curious to see how good it will look. The graphics improve each year and the more detailed things become, the better feel the game has. Overall though, I'd say I'm anxious to see how the User-Controlled Celebrations will work because it sounds like a good idea in theory. It's all a wait and see for now but one real quick comment before I close. Until I see otherwise, Brett Favre is not retired in my book. The guy's itching to come back so dare I say, (and you can quote me on this) "Brett Favre will play this upcoming season". Maybe not for the Green Bay Packers but something tells me his illustrious career is far from over.

Remember The Original "Good Girl Gone Bad"?

Before Rihanna was stuck with this label, Jay-Z had another little miss sunshine by the name of Teairra Mari. Remember her? I'm sure quite a few of you do so to those who are familiar, Teairra is supposedly making a comeback. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to hear this new song of hers but the following is a promo pic from it called "No, No".

I really dug Teairra when she first came onto the scene and now that she's no longer down with Roc-a-Fella, I'm interested to see where her career goes from here. Honestly, I don't really see it going anywhere but you never know with these kind of things. Besides, every artist is one hit away, you know? So maybe "No, No" will be that hit.

Ciara Preps Third LP, Fantasy Ride Due This Fall

Regardless of what some people may think, Ciara is still going strong in spite of all the naysayers. Her follow up disc to her debut, The Evolution, surprised many and spawned multiple singles including "Promise", "Like A Boy", and "Can't Leave 'Em Alone". Now, with two successful albums under her belt, Ciara is gearing up for her third and this time around...it's sure to be one hell of a ride.

Tentatively titled Fantasy Ride, Ciara's third offering is set for a late fall release. Early reports suggest that the first single will be a collaboration with Ludacris called "High Price" but, as always, things are subject to change. As far as production, Polow Da Don is back on board after blessing Ci Ci's last project with "Promise" but except Ciara to stick to her "Crunk&B" roots. Besides, what's that old saying? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Look, just being real, I could care less about what other people think about Ciara so I feel no need whatsoever to justify my reasoning for liking her music. I'll admit, she's not the best singer in the world so I'll give you that, but what she does as an entertainer is only rivaled by that of Beyoncé. Again, in no way, shape, or form am I advocating that Ciara and Beyoncé are in the same league but Beyoncé is, respectively, good at what she does and the same can be said for Ciara. All I know is that I like what I like; therefore, Ciara fans would agree that this new album can't come soon enough.

CP3 For MVP

In the words of Tyson Chandler, "If Chris Paul doesn't win MVP, then it's a damn shame."--You know that saying...actions speak louder than words? Well, Chris Paul's play in the playoffs has spoken volumes and while it's a foregone conclusion that Kobe Bryant will probably win the MVP, I can't think of anybody more deserving than CP3.
I mean, let's be real about it, not only is Paul outplaying his counterpart in Jason Kidd, but he's making the whole Dallas Mavericks team look washed up. His ability to pass out of the double team and escape the trap, only to get the ball back and score/pass from anywhere on the floor is unreal. Throw in the fact that he's averaging 33.5pts and 13.5 assists in just his first two career playoff games, and what you have is all the makings of a perennial all-star.

Sure, Kobe Bryant does deserve the MVP based on his body of work but that's about it. Not to take anything away from Kobe, but I just feel that his play against the Denver Nuggets is nothing spectacular. Denver doesn't play any kind of defense and, bear in mind, that this is the same Denver team that let Kevin Durant go off during the last week of the regular season. That, and that fact alone, is the reason why Kobe doesn't deserve it but, on the real, I just hate Kobe with a passion. His cockiness is bad for the game but damn, this guy is just too damn good.

I guess it's a love/hate relationship because I love to hate him but too many times he snatches seamless victories away from my teams. On the respect tip, I'll give him that but hey...if they want to crown him MVP then, by all means, who am I say otherwise? Just keep in mind Laker fans, the last couple winners of the prestigious MVP award ('07 Dirk Nowitzki, '06-'05 Steve Nash, '04 Kevin Garnett) hasn't even made it to the finals. So, be careful what you wish for.

J. Hud Album Due This Sept.

"How the hell does Jennifer Hudson win Best New Artist and she doesn't even have an album out?"--I remember thinking this same exact question, a few months back, when Jennifer Hudson surprised many and took home the award at this past year's BET Awards; but this September, I guess this win will finally be validated.

Although it took quite some time, "Ms. Dreamgirls" herself is set to release her currently untitled debut this fall and expectations could not be any higher. Me personally, I don't expect much from it but I'm interested to see if Hudson will live up to all the hype. There's no question that she's superbly talented when it comes to her voice but whether or not she can deliver a solid album is the question. Besides, as some of you may know, Hudson had completed half of her debut project already only to have the entire thing scrapped. I'm not exactly sure why, or can't really recall the reason at the moment, but it just goes to show how much pressure is riding on this album to be a success. Forget about all the accolades, awards, etc, J. Hud's career will be defined by this debut. And if we're expected to love her, as she's boldly stated in song, then I suggest this girl quit dreaming about "Sex and the City" and focus more on music.

You Know That Song, "Throw Some D's"?

Well, Sara Stokes (formerly of Da Band) took things literally and is now the proud owner of a new pair of implants. Why? I don't know but something tells me that that crazy husband of hers had something to do with this. I mean, she was fine the way she was and for her to do something like this is beyond me. Yeah, yeah, yeah...I understand that it could've been a decision based on self-esteem issues but this chick has more important matters to be concerned with. Ever since Diddy dissolved this little rap group project of his, Sara and the rest of her band mates have blissfully wandered into surreal life purgatory. Her little 15 minutes of fame is up and, in retrospect, will probably be looked at as a missed opportunity but it's her own damn fault. That crazy husband of hers is the epitome of "bitchassness" and the sooner she realizes that, the better off she'll be.

Meagan Good Set To Appear In Saw V

According to ComingSoon.net, Meagan Good is set to appear in the next installment of the Saw series. While not much is known about the film, it is however known that Meagan will be in a supporting role and will play a character by the name of Luba--a city planner who comes from a very wealthy family.

Now, being that I'm a huge fan of these films and somewhat attracted to Meagan Good, I'm interested to see how this marriage between the two will work out. Meagan hasn't really garnered much attention as a box office draw and has only flirted with movie star status but it's her own fault if you ask me. Too often, it seems like she settles for low budget projects but hopefully this role will help her become more noticeable. Regardless of if she survives or not.

Saw V is scheduled to hit theaters October 24th, 2008

Amerie Promo Pics

I don't really know what happened to Amerie but, she's kind of gotten lost in all these R&B songstresses that are out. Bear in mind, she's never really gained notoriety either and has mostly been looked over but these promo pics are probably from an upcoming album of hers. Still, I think she's exceptionally talented so hopefully this album will push her more into the limelight.

Ashanti: The Declaration Album Cover

From what I've been reading, a lot of people are saying that Ashanti comes off kind of "Beyoncé-ish" on this album cover for The Declaration. In a way, I can kind of see what they mean but, really, there's no comparison between the two. As much as Ashanti would love to be Beyoncé, I just don't see her ever reaching that level of success. Don't get me wrong, I love Ashanti the way she is so, as long as she continues to focus on her, then I think she'll be fine.

Alicia Keys: Teenage Love Affair [Video]

I love Alicia Keys but I don't particularly like this song. She could've went with another choice for a single, in my opinion, but I guess it doesn't really matter what I think. Anyway, I do like the video because it's something different from Alicia so check it out if you haven't had the chance to catch it on BET yet.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I don’t know what it is but it seems like every movie that comes with the “From the guys who brought you SuperBad and The 40-Year Old Virgin” seal of approval, is held to a much higher standard. Deservedly so, Judd Apatow and his “frat pack”, of sorts, are incredibly gifted at this sort of thing and after misfiring with Drillbit Taylor, it’s nice to see them rebound with Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Written by Jason Segel, of Freaks and Geeks fame, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the ideal breakup movie. While it’s not quite on par with none of the aforementioned, or even in the same league as Knocked Up for that matter, this film is still worth the price of admission and will surely become a guilty pleasure among moviegoers. Trust me, I just have a good feeling about this.

At first, Forgetting Sarah Marshall plays like a series of short vignettes that have just been thrown together but once things settle in, the story is actually pretty good. Peter (Jason Segel) is heartbroken after being dumped by his television star girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), so in hopes of getting things off his mind, he heads to Hawaii to relax. Unknowingly, Sarah has the same idea so when the two cross paths it makes for an awkward moment but introduces Peter, and the audience, to her new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous Snow (Russell Brand). Relatively new to the American audience, Russell Brand’s portrayal of Aldous is spot on and even steals the show with some of the more funnier moments. One in particular has to do with a "competitive sex scene" but you just have to see it for yourself to understand what I mean.

As far as the rest of the template is concerned, Peter is understandably bothered by he fact that his ex is 1)in Hawaii and 2)dating another guy so quickly but is able to find comfort from a hotel clerk named Rachel (Mila Kunis). The two naturally hit it off and from there, it becomes a story of love and all its winding twists and turns. Throw in a few laughs and what you have is “the perfect date movie for guys”. Overall, I’d say the movie has all the elements SuperBad, The 40-Year Old Virgin, and Knocked Up all had but, most importantly, it has heart. Not so much that it comes off as corny but just enough that I applaud the writers and directors for finding the right balance. I mean, Jason Segel’s portrayal of Peter as a pathetic, punch drunk love loser is kind of endearing but one thing’s for sure. Unlike the title, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one laugh out loud riot that moviegoers will not soon forget.

C-Side Feat. Keyshia Cole: Boyfriend/Girlfriend [Video]

I had no idea Keyshia Cole laced the hook on this song but it's not like it changes my opinion of it. I had heard this song like months ago, to be honest, but now that it's just starting to be spun more into heavy rotation, it's nice to see a video to go along with it. Keyshia looks great, as always, and these guys known as C-Side aren't too bad. Anyway, check it out for yourself and how about some feedback for a change.

Raven-Symoné JET Magazine Cover

What can I say? I absolutely love Raven-Symoné so I just had to post this once I found the time. As you can see, Miss Raven-Symoné is gracing the latest cover of JET Magazine and I must say that this looks pretty classy. It's sort of reminiscent of the Alicia Keys Blender pics I posted some time ago but all that aside, I can't wait to read this article about her. JET isn't really my kind of magazine but, nonetheless, I'll give it a read. Besides, for me, it will be well worth it.

Usher: Here I Stand Album Cover

So, I'm surfing the net (SOHH.com) and I come across the album cover for the new Usher record, Here I Stand. As you can see, it's kind of plain but, really, what's the point of having something extravagent if the music sucks? I'm not saying this record will be a disappointment but I'm eager to hear what Usher has to say after being away so long. So much has happened between now and then but people will probably fain interest to see if he can top the sales of Confessions. Me personally, I doubt it but it's wait and see for now. All I know is that his "Love In The Club" record is a monsta and that there couldn't of been a more fitting way for him to return to the game after 2004's "Yeah!" Pay attention people, the King of R&B is back.

Gnarls Barkley/N.E.R.D. Source Magazine Covers

The Source Magazine hasn't really been relevant in quite some time but I'm feelin' the latest cover spread featuring Gnarls Barkley and N.E.R.D. I just so happen to be a fan of both groups so this is a real good look for them both. Gnarls Barkley's new album, The Odd Couple, is a diamond in the rough as far as I'm concerned but peep the new single from N.E.R.D. It's called "Everybody Nose" and while it's not really for the mainstream, fans of N.E.R.D. will be pleased and last I checked...that's all that really matters.

Rich Boy: Bigger Than The Mayor [Mixtape]

"Trap Muzik" is hit or miss these days but there’s no denying that Rich Boy is a product of his environment. I suppose real recognizes real and in response, people embraced Rich Boy for his debut anthem “Throw Some D’s”. Now, a solo album later, Rich Boy is readying his 2nd offering upon the world but not before wetting our appetites with his new mixtape, Bigger Than The Mayor. Boasting 16, synth-heavy tracks, this mixtape fires on all cylinders so sit back, turn the music all the way up, and prepare for the ride of your life.

Ok, maybe I’m hyping this mixtape up to be bigger than what it really is but Rich Boy has really been impressing me lately. I first caught wind of this project through a track I downloaded called “Monsta” and ever since, I’ve been eager to hear more. Now that I have…I’m still impressed but only marginally. You see, I’m not really much of a fan of his but I will give credit where credit is due. Songs like “Ghetto Rich” and “Lost Girls” off his self-titled debut show that he’s capable of spittin’ politics but then on the other side, his mush mouthed flow makes it hard to understand. Me personally, I chalk it up as a character defect but, to each his own. Rich Boy is one of the most relevant M.C.’s and if given time and the right guidance, his impact could be much greater.

Still, that wouldn’t save this mixtape but there’s not really much wrong with it either. I’m just not a fan of "Trap Muzik", however, I do like anything that bangs heavy. As long as it sounds right in the car then I’m all for it so from that standpoint, Rich Boy delivers a solid collection of material to ride to. Sure, you may not be able to understand what he’s saying but he’s no different than any other rapper.

Bravado and swagger are both on display so though the interpretation is hard to make out, the message is still the same. That being said, I wouldn’t recommend this mixtape from a journalistic point of view but I still think it’s something that needs to be heard. Being from Alabama, not too many people have made it out like Rich Boy so despite his flaws, I respect what he’s doing and who am I to say differently? Up and coming rappers take note, class is now in session.

Mariah Carey: E=MC²

Mariah Carey has come a long way since her breathtaking debut but it’s no secret that her rise to fame has been filled with trials and tribulations. From unending heartbreak to nervous breakdowns, Mariah has endured it all; but even through the rain, the sun still shines and its no wonder as to why Mimi is still feeling emancipated. Now, with a new lease on life, Mariah returns with her new album E=MC² and if you thought the 1st go ‘round of the Emancipation was good, the 2nd is equally better.

For the most part, my infatuation with Mariah has less to do with her singing and more with how she looks. As shallow as that may seem, I stand behind my stance but one thing I can’t deny is that Mariah puts out quality music. So much of her material has a “realness” to it and although people tend to put a label on her diva like stature, Mariah has remained unquestionably consistent. So many other artists fade over time but Mariah is clearly representative of a rare breed.

So, with all that said, all this adds up to what? E=MC² is basically a continuation of The Emancipation of Mimi but it’s not like that’s a bad thing. I thoroughly enjoyed The Emancipation for what it was and the impact that album had was tremendous. Mariah’s career was in peril and to have such a huge following behind that album was imperative. This time around, however, I think it’ll be a little different but out of all the divas that have released albums in the past few months (i.e. Janet, Mary J. Blige), I think E=MC² will stand out the most. Call it a biased opinion but as much as I try to be impartial, I just can’t. Mariah just has a much wider fan base and, as we all know, that entails more outlets for airplay.

Speaking of airplay, this new album is on point and contains plenty of material for Mariah to choose from, as far as singles are concerned. Me myself, I hated the dreadfully, awful “Touch My Body” but dug the T-Pain assisted “Migrate”. While not an official single, T-Pain and his vocoder are at there best and even Mariah jumps in on this addictive new craze. Other standout tracks include “Side Effects” featuring Young Jeezy and the emotionally driven “Bye Bye”, the latter, in which, deals with the heartache of losing a loved one.

Overall, the album is solid all around but it still lacks that “umph” from it’s predecessor. While financially it will be a success, I think Mariah will best be remembered for her inaugural emancipation but then again, since when do sequels ever live up to the original? Unfortunately, E=MC² continues that trend and although this album is good, it’s just not worth revisiting somewhere we’ve already been. Plain and simple.

Street Kings

There’s an overwhelming consensus surrounding urban, crime dramas and the knock on most of them is that they aren’t very good. Then again, maybe it’s just me that thinks this way but, if so, can someone please explain to me why I helplessly sat through Fox Searchlight’s latest attempt at the genre, entitled Street Kings, only to come to the same foregone conclusion?

As puzzling as it may seem, I knew going in not to expect much from Street Kings but I guess it was all the damn previews that had me wanting to see this movie. Besides, you would think that with such a long list of great actors being aboard, there’s no way this film could fail. Unfortunately, 80+ minutes later and $7.00 poorer, I beg to differ.

It’s not so much the fact that this is a bad movie, but it’s more so frustrating with how this film was set up structurally. For what it’s worth, Street Kings is gritty and pulls no punches when it comes to “keeping it authentic” but if you’ve seen one film from this genre, then you’ve pretty much seen them all. Convoluted plot twists and crooked cops go hand-in-hand, of course, and with Street Kings, it’s no different. I’ll admit, however, a few moments of the film gives glimmers of hope but it would take something short of a miracle to save this picture and I’m sure our Lord & Savior has more important matters to deal with. That being said, words can’t describe how disappointed I am with this movie but still, I digress.

So what’s it all about? I’m sure a lot of you are scratching your heads, wondering when this review will get into the plot details but for all extensive purposes, I’ve decided not to divulge any of that information. Not because I don’t want to but because getting into it all would be complicated and the last thing I want to do is jog my memory for what this shit was about. Believe me, it’s not worth the price of admission and plays more as a video rental but I must say that the only good thing I could walk away with is witnessing the evolution of the rapper Common as an actor. I loved him in Smokin' Aces and I loved him here but to only have in one scene is a waste of his talent. It just goes to show that Hollywood and Hip-Hop are one in the same and when the two meet, great things can happen. Well…at least in some cases.

All that said, the performances were sub par at best but I really dug Forest Whitaker in this movie. Ever since Last King of Scotland, Whitaker has taken each of his subsequent roles higher than the screenwriter could’ve ever imagined; and although Street Kings suffers from a bad script, Forest makes perfect use of what he‘s been given. Therefore, thanks in part to the acting of Forest Whitaker and to see a glimmer of potential from Common, I’m giving this movie a pretty fair rating as compared to what it could’ve been. So, see this movie at your own risk, but if you’re not pleased, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Robin Thicke to Continue His Evolution With Something Else

Contemporary radio should be thanking Robin Thicke right about now because if it wasn’t for his late-night love ballad “Lost Without You”, it’s relevance would probably not be as strong as it is. Yes in deed, 2006-2007 was a good year for blue eyed soul and hoping to continue along this recent string of success, Robin Thicke is gearing up for his follow up to The Evolution. While critically acclaimed and praised by critics [fans] alike, The Evolution of Robin Thicke was artfully orchestrated, but this new offering is sure to be Something Else.

Just being real, the success Robin Thicke has been having is long overdue. Nobody deserves it more, in my opinion, so I’m glad to see the fruits of his labor come to fruition. That being said, I, like many others, am anxious to hear what direction he’ll go with this new album but I’m sure it won’t stray far from his last. So much R&B these days seems syrupy but Thicke’s melodic approach can be likened to a perfect equilibrium.

As far as details are concerned, not much is known about the album except that the tentative title is Something Else. Going along with that, early reports suggest that the first single could possibly be a track called “Magic” but both the title and single are subject to change. Regardless, Robin Thicke can do no wrong in my eyes and as long as he doesn’t do anything drastic, the resurgence of contemporary radio will live on.

Melyssa Ford To Bare All In the Upcoming Film, Days of Wrath

You can usually tell when a movie is desperate by the lengths in which it is willing to go so it’s no wonder as to why the upcoming film, Days of Wrath, is being talked about so much. In case you haven’t heard, Melyssa Ford is set to appear but it’s her fully nude sex scene with Wilmer Valderrama that’s grabbing most of the headlines. Why? Well, the former video vixen is going all in for this role and while it probably won’t be as explicit as Halle and Billy Bob’s infamous romp from Monster’s Ball, this is still pretty surprising. I mean, I’m all for nudity if it’s at the sake of art but let’s be real about it, Melyssa being naked in this is what producers and movie execs are going to use as a selling point. I could be wrong but after peeping the trailer for this dreadfully awful excuse for a movie, I’m thinking that Melyssa being naked may be the only thing worth watching it for. Don’t believe me? Peep the trailer for yourself and you be the judge.

Lupe Fiasco: Paris, Tokyo [Video]

"Hip Hop Saved My Life" dropped like three weeks ago so to see this video for "Paris, Tokyo" come so soon is a surprise. Nevertheless, the video is pretty dope and Lupe is looking pretty fresh so check it out.

The Roots: Birthday Girl [Video]

A lot of people weren't feeling this song and in response, The Roots have decided to remove it from the final tracklisting of their upcoming album, Rising Down. Personally, I feel indifferent because while I do like the song, I also find it strange to hear this coming from The Roots. Anyway, here's the video for the song so check it out and let me know what you think.

Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter III Pushed Back...Again?

I don't feed too much into rumors but this one has too many legs not to be true. According to SOHH.Com, Lil' Wayne's Carter III CD, which was due May 13th, has been pushed back to June 10th. Now, nothing's been confirmed officially, but if this is the case then words can't describe how disappointed I am. Not so much with the fact that the release date has changed but more so with the constant delays of Weezy dropping this album. So much of his material gets leaked with each passing day but leave it to Wayne to f*** with people's heads. His level of quality has dropped off dramatically and part of that could be attributed to his addiction to "syrup" but who knows? All I know is that if this album had dropped a while ago while Weezy was murdering every track in sight, his legacy would've been cemented forever. Now, Tha' Carter III will be what people judge him by and either he'll be etched in among the G.O.A.T. or worse...be considered rap's incarnation of Peyton Manning. All guts but no glory to show for it.

Bobby Valentino Leaves DTP/Def Jam

I remember a few weeks back, rumors were swirling around DTP and it's roster of artists. Much of the speculation had to do with the job security of those artists but the matter was seemingly resolved when it was announced that DTP had re-signed with Def Jam. Now, in recent weeks, Bobby Valentino has, apparently, addressed his allegiance and has parted ways from both DTP and Def Jam.

Now, while this is far from being 100% confirmed, I find it hard to believe because Bobby V. is the only other DTP artist that actually sold outside of Ludacris. He's pretty much one of the primary investors of the label so to hear about this is news to me. Anyway, the decision to part ways comes three weeks before his Come With Me EP is scheduled to drop but not much else is known about the future of his upcoming album, Underground Love. As for the following, here's the recent remarks Bobby V. made via an interview and it explains his decision to leave.

"The decision to leave [the label] was totally mine. I sat down with Ludacris and Chaka Zulu, and I explained to them that it was time for me to venture out on my own. They had no problem with it; they are cool with it, no beef at all."--Bobby Valentino

Casely: Emotional [Video]

So, I'm watching 106 & Park and this video comes on as the new joint and I'm really feeling this guy. I don't know much about him yet, other than the fact that he's been doing his thing since 2005, but this new song, "Emotional", is off his upcoming album 1985. As soon as I find out more info, I'll be sure to post it but for now...enjoy the video for what it is, but to be honest, I only like the song.

Stacey Dash KING Magazine Cover

I had to check my sources on this one, but did anybody know that Stacey Dash was only 42? Heaven knows she doesn't look it so maybe, just maybe, milk does do a body good.

Truth be told, I've been checking for Stacey since Clueless but who knew what she turn into back then? Yeah, so what if she was a lil' bit older than the rest of the cast. All those years of solidarity have paid off and not to mention, I never noticed how thick she was either. Did you?

For all I know though, photoshop could be playing tricks on me but it'd be hardpressed to deny that this is a real good look for KING Magazine. I've been a constant subscriber for quite some time now and the level of quality has fallen off a bit but this is just the thing to help get things back on track. The Toccarra issue last month was a disappointment so other than the cover, I hope this new issue is more than what meets the eye.

The Game/Ice Cube XXL Magazine Covers

I guess XXL is keeping with a West Coast theme because last month, Snoop Dogg was given the honor of gracing the cover. While I like these more, I think XXL chose two of the best out West to represent so I'm looking forward to picking up the new issue when it hits the stands later this month.

In related news, has anyone heard The Game's new song "Big Dreams" off his upcoming, 3rd album L.A.X.? The song is crazy, to put it mildly, but I'd expect nothing less from Mr. Black Wallstreet himself. I've enjoyed his last two albums so his 3rd should be great also. As for Ice Cube, his new song "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" is pretty good too. I like it because it's political and sends shots at those who blame music for everything so big ups to the homey Ice Cube. ...Just don't make anymore Are We There/Done Yet's.

Akon Calls T-Pain Feat. Snoop Dogg

Maybe it's just me but this whole vocoder thing that T-Pain and Akon use is starting to get ridiculous. I didn't mind Snoop so much using it for "Sexual Eruption" or Lil' Wayne for "Lollipop" but I'm drawing the line there. No other artists need the damn thing so please, for the sake of humanity, continue to do you and stay away from this unnecessary evil.

Now that I've said my peace, I came across this video and I though it was hilarious. It pokes fun at the aforementioned so check it out and let me know what you think.

Maria Kanellis/WWE Magazine

Ever since Maria Kanellis posed for Playboy, it seems like she's been everywhere. I mean, I understand the publicity behind WWE pushing this whole Playboy thing but there's nothing special about this girl whatsoever. Unless I'm missing something, Maria is average at best so all this added attention she's been getting is undeserved in my opinion. Anyway, here's the latest scan of Maria and it comes from the new issue of WWE Magazine. In it, Maria talks about her spread for Playboy and even suggests which WWE Diva should pose next. The issue is on sale now so pick it up and check it out.

50 Cent: "Young Buck Is No Longer Part of G-Unit"

50 Cent made it official yesterday and confirmed what people have been speculating for quite some time now. For whatever reason, Young Buck has been dismissed from G-Unit and I just couldn't be any happier.

First and foremost though, I'm the farthest thing from being a fan of Buck but you could just tell that he didn't really agree with some of the things 50 would do. Loyalty is a thin line, must I remind you, but Buck will be much better off because the guy has talent. 50's hard work and work ethic rubbed off, I'm sure, but only time will tell. Does this mean he'll be entitled to the same success as he had with G-Unit? No, I can't really say either way but sometimes a new beginning can open doors that were once seemingly locked.

As far as 50 Cent is concerned, Lloyd Banks and Yayo are still down for the cause but who knows for how long? G-Unit is not as invincible as they once were and slowly, but surely, little chinks in their armor are starting to show. Naturally, it would be a cause for concern but 50's persona probably won't allow it. Peep the latest issue of XXL to validate my point but the impending foreclosure of G-Unit is coming. It may not come all of a sudden but 50's popularity is on a sharp decline. I guess it's true what they say. All good things must come to an end and unfortunately, 50 Cent and G-Unit are treading on borrowed time.

Rumor: A Foxy Brown Reality Show in the Works?

I'm not sure how much truth there is to this but, rumor has it that VH1 is interested in doing a reality show about Foxy Brown following her release from prison. Other than the mere fact that VH1 is interested, nothing else is being speculated as far as possible air dates, or what have you, but it's quite possible that it could coincide with the release of her upcoming album, Brooklyn Don Diva.

Scheduled to drop sometime later next month, Brooklyn Don Diva will be Foxy's first outing without the backing of long time label Def Jam and her first with Koch Records. Featuring rumored production from the likes of Swiss Beatz and Kanye West, Foxy seems poised to stake claim once again as the illest female M.C. but it seems like all of her competition is either being locked up or too preoccupied with unnecessary plastic surgery. Me personally, I'll never understand it but a Foxy reality show may be pretty decent. Lil' Kim's wasn't bad but what do you expect? VH1 just doesn't care anymore about substance and would rather go all in for ratings. As long as people watch, the more bullshit they'll spit out. Hopefully that won't be the case but until this is confirmed as factual, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Usher Feat. Young Jeezy: In This Club [Video]

This is a real good look for Usher right about now and I'm really feelin' this new song. It's been a minute since Usher was on the scene but what a strong way to make a return. His upcoming album, Here I Stand, is going to be big so I'm looking forward to seeing how he's able to top Confessions. Regardless of the outcome, Usher has earned my respect and with songs like this, I'm sure his fans feel the same way.

Serena Williams Wins 5th Sony Ericsson Title

This is news to me but, apparantly, Serena Willams won her 5th Sony Ericsson Title over the weekend after defeating Jelena Jankovic. It wasn't long ago that people were questioning Serena's heart being in the game and more into fashion but her and her sister's dominance of Women's tennis is prime for another run. Only time will tell, I suppose, but congrats to Serena on defending her crown and here's to many more.

NCAA Women's College Basketball Final: Stanford Vs. Tennessee

How the Lady Tennessee Vols are still alive is beyond me. Candace Parker was far from 100 percent and was limited in what she was able to do on the floor but somehow, Tennesse was able to pull it out. Albeit by a miracle tip-in, Tennessee advances and will now face Candice Wiggins and the Stanford Cardinals.

Again, seeing that I don't care much for college basketball, I don't have a preference either way but there's just something about Candace Parker that has me sprung. I'm sorry, the girl looks good and because of that shallow fact alone, I'm riding with Tenneess to repeat as national champs. Stanford will come out and compete, I'm sure, but in the end the best player on the floor is Candace Parker. Hurt or not, Candace will do just enough to get the job done and, best believe, I'll be watching her do just that.

Final Score Prediction
Stanford 41, Tennessee 49

NCAA Men's College Basketball Final: Kansas Jayhawks Vs. Memphis Tigers

Well, it all comes down to one game. March Madness has come and gone and the two teams we're left with are Kansas and Memphis. I don't really have a preference either way, seeing that I don't really care much for college basketball, but if I had to pick, I'm riding with the Memphis Tigers. No team has ever won 38 games in a college basketball season and after defeating UCLA pretty handily, the Memphis Tigers became the first team to do just that. The bad news? No team has ever won said amount a games and gone on to win a NCAA Championship either but Memphis seems primed to make history. It's no secret that this magical season they've been on has been a fun ride to watch but it all comes down to who can execute in the clutch. Kansas will come prepared to play, I'm sure, and make it a great game but I'm putting my money on Memphis. They just seem like the better team to me and besides, Kansas couldn't put away North Carolina so what do they expect from Memphis? My point exactly.

Final Score Prediction
Kansas 58, Memphis 69

Introducing...Teyana Taylor

Not everybody can jump out of a Barbie box on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 but for Teyana Taylor, life is anything but ordinary. Boasting an impeccable sense of style, Teyana was destined to be a star in her own right so it’s no secret as to why every industry insider is proclaiming her as "the next big thing". Me personally, I haven’t seen anything that screams “star quality” but I’d be hard-pressed to argue against the fact that Teyana does stand out amongst other artists her age.

Being co-signed by one of Hip-Hop’s biggest producers is quite an acknowledgement but, quite frankly, who would dare question the genius of Pharrell Williams? Far be it from me but Pharrell has a unique thought process that can only come out of left field. His ear for talent is second to none and with Teyana Taylor, her formal introduction to the world, From A Planet Called Harlem, is sure to be quite interesting to say the least. I’m definitely interested to see what Miss Taylor has to offer but if it’s anything like her lead single “Google Me” then I’m kind of second guessing whether or not I’d still be interested. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of alternative music but Teyana’s style may be a little too much for my tastes.

Not that it matters, one person’s opinion doesn’t make much of a difference, but Teyana’s résumé speaks for itself. Not only is she one of the originators of the Chicken Noodle Soup dance but how many people can say that they choreographed for Beyonce? Not many, let alone someone who’s only 16, but for further confirmation, peep Jay-Z’s “Blue Magic” clip. The big haired girl dancing is none other than…you guessed it…Teyana, herself.

All in all, Teyana is clearly an artist to watch in ‘08 and only time will tell how she will be received. My first impression is that she will go over well with kids her age but will suffer financially because she’s not really marketable for mainstream. Again, only time will tell but if Teyana is as fresh as a pair of Ice Cream sneakers, Pharrell will have one more successful business venture. Thanks in part to the self-proclaimed, teen president Teyana Taylor.
